Ways to meet people and make friends in Nashville

If making more friends is on your resolution list for this year (or maybe finding your person??), Nashville has a ton of options. People are starved for connection in our post-Covid world, moving away from online everything to how can we connect IRL? And the creative folks in this city have risen to the occasion, with groups and clubs for basically everyone! Here are some of the best ways to meet people and make friends in Nashville!

Ways to meet people and make friends in Nashville: TedX members event
TedX Nashville members’ holiday party!

Game Nights

Games previously reserved for retirees are having a moment, and what better way to meet some new friends who share similar interests!

Mahjong Soiree

Missy Mahjong

Nashville Backgammon Club

TedX Nashville

You know TedX for their conferences and seminars from local experts on the most interesting topics…but now they have a membership program, granting you access to members-only events (like chef-led TedX Tastings and special artist nights), first dibs on other events, and a great community of local leaders and thinkers.

Dinner Clubs

Banter Supper Club

EdibleTN Farm & Creek Dinners – these only happen a few times a year and are probably a little too pricey to be an all-the-time thing, but they’re a beautiful, unique experience, and I met a lot of great people when I went solo to one.

Folx – currently working with other groups (run clubs, book clubs, etc.) to host great events, but stay tuned, as they’re working on a new iteration!

Timeleft

Book clubs and writers meetups

Silent Book Club – perfect for the introverts, and they host all kinds of events all over the city

Sugar & Spice Book Club – for the romance girlies!

Freehand Nashville – monthly creative writing meetup

ShutUp Writing – 2x monthly to “write in the same room”

Arts & Crafts

Nashville Craft Club

Hoamsy – although these events are not ongoing, it can be a fun group activity and you never know who you’ll connect with!

Smart Arts & Crafts – also not ongoing events, but I suspect they have a lot of repeat customers and the staff are amazing!

Wellness Groups

Capitol Steps Workout – led by James Crumlin, these workouts are completely free every Monday and Wednesday

Movement Lounge – Nashville’s most inclusive yoga studio, with puppy (and other pets!) yoga, aerials, and more!

Nameless Wellness Club – sometimes pickleball and yoga, sometimes board game nights because wellness takes many forms.

Nashville Sports Leagues – one of the league sports groups. There are probably others, but I know nothing about this, so you’ll need to do your own research.

Run Clubs:

For Each Gender

Nashville Dudes Who Brew

Nashville Girls Who Walk (they do non-walking events, too!)

The Beauty Boost – wellness focused, but not exlusively

For those who drink – and those who don’t!

Mug clubs – basically every brewery has one and it’s a good way to connect with other regulars, attend special events, and save money!

Nelson’s Greenbrier Whiskey Club – similar to the mug club, a great way to meet other regulars and whiskey enthusiasts and gather at members-only events

Sober events

  • Killjoy – the N/A bottle shop has events ALL the time from discussions, karaoke nights, tastings and markets, and so much more
  • Still Social – a new group focusing on fun events not centered around alcohol

Bars conducive to meeting people

I polled my followers on the best bars for actually talking to people, and these are the results!

Community theater

There are few experiences more bonding than going through months of rehearsals and the adrenaline of performances together.

Hendersonville Performance Art Center

The Keeton Theater

Nashville Shakespeare Festival

Street Theater Co

Third Coast Comedy Club/Improv Classes

Dating groups

If you’re looking for more than friends, don’t worry – Nashville’s got that covered, too!

Date Nashville

Jigsaw

Nashville Singles Club – I’m not positive this one is still operating, but including just in case
